[TPRJ] Job Description:
The position of Arts Worker at Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association is to be part of the
Jilamara art centre team based in Milikapiti. The role is flexible to the interests and
strengths of the individual. There are some permanent part-time Arts Worker positions at
Jilamara and range across the studios, workshops, museum and retail gallery. The Arts
Worker – Studio/Workshops Assistant position is being created to build skills for a new Arts
Worker role at Jilamara. It will be predominantly based in the art centre studios, workshops
and packing room. All Arts Workers report to the art centre managers.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
-Work effectively as part of inter-cultural art centre team
-Collecting materials from Country – stringybark, ochres, ironwood
-Stretching linen and canvas for painting studios
-Making stretcher frames
-Recording, signing out canvases and barks with catalogue numbers, measuring barks and
carvings
-Preparing and packing artwork for freight
-Measuring and weighing packages for freight
-Install, set up and packing down art centre sales events like Tiwi Footy Art Sale, Darwin
Aboriginal Art Fair, Double Tree Hilton Tiwi exhibition, Tarnanthi Art Fair
-Assisting with Culture Classes at the art centre
-Support artists tell their stories
-Working on various funded Jilamara culture and art projects on a project basis including
ideas development, logistics and organising artists
-Learn new skills, attending and supporting workshops
