About the role…
The primary purpose of this position is to support the repairs and maintenance function of the Facilities and Operations departments in an array of daily operational duties including the Royal Queensland Show. This is to ensure quality, reliability, and efficiency with regards to all aspects of operational event trade preparations (Electrical, Plumbing, Landscaping, logistics).
This role also has a high focus on day-to-day repairs, maintenance of plant, equipment and grounds within the Brisbane Showgrounds precinct through the delivery of effective maintenance practices including providing specialist technical and logistical support to maintenance contractors.
This a Fixed term - Full time position, working through until the end of the year.
About Us:
The Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) owns and operates the historic Brisbane Showgrounds precinct, home to the iconic Royal Queensland Show and more than 300 events a year. The 22-hectare precinct, just 1.5kms from the CBD attracts a million visitors a year and is the state’s largest indoor/outdoor events space featuring the vibrant King Street dining precinct and the five-star Royal International Convention Centre.
Key Responsibilities…
- Provide support to the operational Facilities team
- Basic landscaping and litter picking from designated areas and entry points
- Pre and post event inspections, written report reported to Facility Management Team
- Completion Scheduled building and asset inspections as required
- Contractor liaison (point of contact) venue services
- Specialised vehicle operation for nominated tasks (Forklift, EWP)
- Cyclical readings of utilities, vehicles and fixed plant including fuel stock
- Assist trades in event set up/packdowns
- General maintenance tasks as directed by the Facilities Management
- Carry out such other duties as are incidental to the proper performance of your duties or that the RNA may reasonably require based on the operational requirements of the Business.
- Comply with RNA Showgrounds policies and procedures and relevant appropriate legislation and meet OHS, anti-discrimination, equal opportunity, and other legislative requirements in accordance with the parameters of the above position.
- Protect the RNA’s property; and
- Commitment to a lead role throughout the Ekka bump in, day to day operations and bump out
- Ability and commitment to work non-standard days/hours dependent on event requirements and/or as required
What you will need…
- Minimum 5 years’ maintenance management experience preferred
- Sound knowledge of building maintenance regulatory requirements
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Risk Management
- Trade background preferred
- Hold valid plant equipment licence – EWP, Forklift
- Hold a valid open driver's licence
