Woolnorth Renewables is a renewable energy company with three operational wind farms in Tasmania. Two wind farms at Woolnorth in the far north-west of Tasmania and the third at Cape Portland on the north-east coast of Tasmania. About this role – Trading & Market Analyst:
Woolnorth Renewables offer a unique in-house analyst opportunity with exposure to markets (electricity) analysis, trade, programming and systems development. This role is a key part of a small team providing business analysis, support and recommendations.
Day-to-day you will analyse the Electricity Market data, develop and execute Woolnorth’s Electricity Market bidding strategies, respond to Electricity Market pricing events and maximise revenue of the operating sites through market bid stack revisions. You will be responsible for the Company’s Market Operation procedures, oversee the Market Operator contractor (OWE) and ensure that business strategies and procedures comply with the latest AEMO regulations.
Your role will provide broader support to the business including support with network event analysis, data analytics and modelling, and input into project and capital budgets.
Woolnorth Renewables has offices in Launceston, Tasmania and Melbourne, Victoria with sites in north-east and north-west Tasmania. This role may be performed from any Woolnorth location, or remotely (preferably in the Eastern Australian time zones).
About you:
Are you an inquisitive self-starter with experience in market analysis and trade, programming and system development? You may be as a commodity trader, data scientist or Market Analyst looking to make a change, or currently be in the electrical/power industry.
You thrive on analysis, data modelling, trend identification and projections with a systems and automation approach. Confident working with analytical systems, Excel (VBA), and a range of programming languages, you will be equally comfortable talking to your colleagues to understand Electricity Markets, global commodities and how things work and how to continually improve.
