Council has a rare opportunity to join our Infrastructure Assets Strategy team as our Traffic Engineer, contributing to the current and future transport and infrastructure needs for our city.
You will be responsible for undertaking investigations and technical assessments of the transport network and making recommendations for improvements. You will provide professional Traffic Engineering input and advice on traffic planning, management and operations to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and support the running of the Lake Macquarie Traffic Facilities and Road Safety Committee.

Key to your success in this role is your wealth of experience in strategic traffic and transportation planning, assessing development proposals/applications and community consultation processes. You are a team player with a growth mindset, have attention to detail, work to deadlines and possess excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Along with the full criteria in the Position Statement, specifically you will have:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic/Transportation Planning or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated experience in strategic traffic and transportation planning include traffic modelling
- Demonstrated experience in assessing various types of development proposals/applications with regard to traffic and road network matters
- Experience in community consultation, and communication with customers and other stakeholders on technical issues
- Demonstrated experience in assessing the future infrastructure requirements for transport networks and ability to make recommendations for assets to be included in catchment contribution plans

- Competitive salary from $94,827 to $110,204 a year plus industry-leading 12 per cent superannuation
