About This Opportunity
We are seeking a Traffic/Security Warden to provide a service to ensure traffic enforcement and Security of all University buildings and grounds, staff, student and visitors are protected.
The Traffic Warden is to enforce parking regulations and undertake traffic control in relation to the University's traffic and parking regulations as defined and regulated in the State Penalties Enforcement Act 1999, The State Penalties Enforcement Regulation 2000, and The University of Queensland Act 1998.
The Traffic Warden will conduct patrols and provide information and directions to campus-users. The Traffic Warden will support and supplement Security Officers as and when required in dealing with security issues and undertaking associated security duties.
Please notes: The Hours of Work for this position is 16:00 – 23:15 Monday to Friday
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Undertake regular patrols, to maintain a visible presence to provide an adequate coverage of the parking facilities and to promote a high level of adherence to the parking regulations
Issue Infringement Notices using the approved infringement notification method
Plan and provide traffic control services on University sites as required
Conduct inspections of pay & display machines by token as required
Undertake security duties as required by the Senior Manager Security, or their delegate
Bring to the immediate notice of the Security Supervisor any matter of priority or emergency
Attend security and traffic emergencies and other tasks as directed by the Duty Security Supervisor
Prepare full, detailed and accurate reports by the end of each shift of all incidents that occurred during the shift using standard formats
Please Note: All successful applicants will need to have full availability to attend 2 weeks full-time training.
This is Full-time positions, continuing (Permanent) position. At HEW Level 3, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range of $62,440.83 to $68,729.06 plus a generous super allowance of up to 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $73,055.77 – $80,413.00 per annum.
About You
Current Queensland Certificate II in Security Operations that includes Security Officer Unarmed, Crowd Control modules
Current St John, Red Cross or Qld Ambulance First Aid Certificate, including up to date CPR module
Current Queensland Manual Open Drivers Licence
Demonstrated experience in a client-service environment, as well as experience with the keeping of records and general administrative functions
Essential to be fit and able to walk for long distances and remain standing for extensive periods at all times of the year, as part of the work requirement to perform regular foot patrols
Work flexibility, be self-motivated and willingness to participate and support others as part of a team
Previous experience in the Security & Traffic/Parking industry would be highly regarded
The successful applicant shall not have been convicted of a crime or misdemeanour in Queensland or elsewhere. It is a legislative requirement under the Security Providers Act 1993 that the applicant must undergo a Queensland Police Service criminal check
