Metro Mining Limited (ASX: MMI) is an Australian mining company based in Brisbane. Metro’s flagship project, the Bauxite Hills Operation, located 95km north of Weipa, is one of the largest independent projects within the internationally acclaimed Weipa Bauxite Region.

About the role

As trainee, you will receive comprehensive training and hands-on experience in various aspects of mining operations. This position offers an avenue for personal and professional growth while contributing to sustainable mining practices and community development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in on-the-job training under the guidance of experienced mentors
  • adhere to safety protocols and company policies to ensure a secure working environment
  • assist in daily mining activities, including equipment operation, maintenance, and environmental custodianship
  • collaborate with team members to achieve production targets while upholding quality standards
  • embrace opportunities for continuous learning and skill development within the mining industry.

About you

  • Identify as a member of the Australian first nations, Ankamuthi community
  • Hold a current C Class driver license
  • ability to participate in pre-commencement training provided by the employer, including obtaining licensing to operate mobile plant.
  • demonstrate eagerness to learn and develop skills in mining operations
  • ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • strong commitment to safety and environmental sustainability
  • willingness to comply with company policies and procedures
  • ability to pass a pre-employment medical
  • no prior work experience is necessary; however, any relevant experience or qualifications will be advantageous.
