Positions are WA based working a FIFO roster.
ResponsibilitiesYou will participate in Laveer and client training programs to obtain your Port specific pilotage licence, which can take up to 18 months depending on prior experience and individual aptitude.
Once licensed you will be responsible for the safe and efficient pilotage of vessels through the direct application of a high level of ship handling skill, Bridge resource management, local port knowledge and general maritime expertise.
Fostering positive relationships with Port stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction is a key part of the role.
You will work within and promote Laveer's integrated QHSE management system and policies. You will actively promote a collegial work culture within Laveer and with the extended team of port service providers.
Staying informed about changes in navigation procedures, regulations, safety protocols and technologies is an important part of the role.
Qualifications and Experience- Master Unlimited with current Australian CoC or CoR
- AMSA medical
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental protection, quality outcomes and continuous improvement
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and make well-informed decisions under pressure
- Ability to accept feedback, learn from others and work within a diverse team
- Port pilotage experience is preferred but not essential
Fully licensed pilots will work an even time FIFO roster with 5 weeks annual leave. Ongoing training is provided including opportunities to cross-skill between ports. Successful candidates will join Laveer as trainees and a personalised training plan and roster will be developed with each employee to maximise training opportunities whilst also suiting individual circumstances.
Fatigue management plays a key part in work planning and whilst some work will be required outside rostered on time, pilot ratios have been built around sustainability.
