Lead the change, from the frontline
This is a fantastic two year opportunity for a qualified fitter, mechanical or electrical to join our onsite generation team based at our Oakey PowerStation as a Trainee Operator Maintainer. The Trainee Operator Maintainer is responsible for achieving safe and efficient day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Oakey power station and other associated equipment while undergoing a traineeship learning on the job and through formalised training. You will be responsible for carrying out tasks with the guidance of other Oakey site team members.
With respect, integrity and honesty, you will:
Support the power station staff in the coordination of daily operations;
Operation of 2 x Siemens SGT5-2000E open cycle gas turbines generating units to meet Planned Operations schedule;
Completion of routine plant inspections, rounds and readings on gas turbines and auxiliary plant;
Monitoring gas pipeline receiving stations systems and respond to faults;
Report on and investigate all operating anomalies, faults and plant availability issues;
Navigate and interpret information displayed on the Siemens T3000 control system including logic diagrams;
Respond to alarms generated from the power station;
Operate a wide range of auxiliary equipment including fuel gas yard, process water systems and emergency generators;
Complete operations logs and reports as necessary; and
Perform operations required for maintenance activities or customer demand.
Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:
Possess a relevant Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification.
Ability to work both independently and with other team members with minimal supervision;
Demonstrated skills in prioritising of work to agreed deadlines;
Ability to read documents, drawings and procedures;
Ability to work effectively in a small team environment with a ‘Can-do’ attitude;
High level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; and
Be proactive, display initiative and contribute to continuous improvement & a continuous learning environment;
Knowledge of maintenance management systems;
Power Generation experience an advantage;
Gas Turbine operations and maintenance an advantage;
Knowledge of HMI and SCADA control systems;
Knowledge of safe work systems including Permit to Work;
Hazardous area qualifications or experience an advantage;
Ability to compile information, data to generate reports for operational and compliance requirements.
