Position Description
Berrigan Shire Council is seeking applications for the position of Trainee People and Culture Officer (24-month fixed term). This position allows you to complete a Traineeship – Cert III or IV Human Resources whilst providing you with on-the-job experience.
The Trainee People and Culture Officer is responsible for assisting with the co-ordination of the human resource management function including work health and safety, recruitment, on boarding, training, performance appraisal system and off boarding.
Within the area of responsibility, this role is required to:
- Assist with maintaining employee records and personnel files,
- Assist with the co-ordination of Council’s Human Resource functions, including recruitment, on boarding, off boarding,
- Assist with the co-ordination of Council’s Performance Appraisal system,
- Assist with the co-ordination of the return to work and rehabilitation programs for Council staff,
- Assist with the management of Council’s Worker’s Compensation claims and liaise with Council’s insurer,
- Assist with Council’s health surveillance programs,
- Assist in the preparation of training organisation plans and programs for Council staff,
- Assist with workplace health and safety inspections and
- Assist with the maintenance of documentation to support Council’s integrated management system.
Essential Requirements:
- Australian class C Drivers Licence
- Certificate III or IV in Human Resources – or ability to obtain.
This position is a 24-month traineeship, classified at Band 1 Entry Level under Council’s salary structure with a salary $48,725.04 per annum plus 11% statutory superannuation, 70-hour 9-day fortnight. Conditions are in accordance with Local Government (State) Award 2023.
