Job description

The One International College is a Registered Training Organisation offering Nationally Recognised Training for the Vocational Education and Training sector. 

We are currently seeking suitably qualified trainers and Assessors to deliver training for the following qualifications:

CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support

CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services

BSB80620 Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning)

Position Objective

This position has operational responsibility for the delivery of training and assessments according to the requirements of the Training Package and in line with the organisational Training and Assessment Strategies, which have been developed for each qualification.

Knowledge and experience required

All applicants for this position must:

  1. Hold current qualifications to teach (preferably TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment), as well as current and relevant vocational qualifications to at least the level of training being delivered and assessed. 
  2. Have at least 3 years’ industry experience in the industry for which training is being delivered and assessed.
    1. For CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, the applicant must have at least 5 years’ experience working in an ageing support facility and must have experience with dementia, palliative care and disabilities.
    2. For CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services, the applicant must have at least 5[GC1]  years’ experience working in the community services sector.

Key accountabilities

  • The Trainer is responsible for ensuring that they comply with the minimum qualification and professional development requirements as set out in Clause 1.13 of the Standards for RTOs 2015 below: 

“1.13 In addition to the requirements specified in Clause 1.14 and Clause 1.15, the RTO’s training and assessment is delivered only by persons who have:

a)  vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed;

b)  current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided; and

c)  current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training and assessment.”

  • The Trainer is responsible for ensuring that they comply with the minimum assessment
    requirements, as set out in Clause 1.8 of the Standards below, and in line with the assessment materials approved by the RTO:

“1.8 The RTO implements an assessment system that ensures that assessment (including Recognition of Prior Learning):

a) complies with the assessment requirements of the relevant training package or VET accredited course;

b)  is conducted in accordance with the Principles of Assessment contained in Table 1.8-1 and the Rules of Evidence contained in Table 1.8-2;” 

  • The Trainer, in line with the requirements stated in Clause 1.7 of the Standards below, is responsible for ensuring that they establish the needs of the clients on behalf of the RTO during the delivery of training and assessment to allow for reasonable adjustment:

“1.7   The RTO determines the support needs of individual learners and provides access to the educational and support services necessary for the individual learner to meet the requirements of the training product as specified in training packages or VET accredited courses.”

  • The Trainer, in line with the requirements stated in Clause 2.2 of the Standards below, is responsible for utilising and submitting all the relevant Continuous Improvement forms to improve client services by collecting the relevant data as required by the RTO:

“2.2    The RTO:

a) systematically monitors the RTO’s training and assessment strategies and practices to ensure ongoing compliance with Standard 1; and

b)  systematically evaluates and uses the outcomes of the evaluations to continually improve the RTO’s training and assessment strategies and practices. Evaluation information includes but is not limited to quality/performance indicator data collected under Clause 7.5, validation outcomes, client, Trainer and Assessor feedback and complaints and appeals”

  • The Trainer, in line with the requirements stated in Clauses 8.5 and 8.6 of the Standards below, is responsible for complying with all relevant Commonwealth, State or Territory legislation and regulatory requirements as outlined in the RTO's Policies and Procedures. The Contract Trainer is also responsible for alerting the RTO for any additional legislation and regulatory requirements that should be added to the Policies and Procedures.

“8.5 The RTO complies with Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation and regulatory requirements relevant to its operations.

8.6  The RTO ensures its staff and clients are informed of any changes to legislative and regulatory requirements that affect the services delivered.”

  • Work within the requirements set out within the Training and Assessment Strategies 
  • Attend induction and Professional Development programs according to the organisation’s Policies and Procedures 
  • Attend an assessment validation meeting at least once per year 
  • Complete all assessment documentation according to organisational policies and procedures, as well as the requirements of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015
  • Adhere to operational documents, including the Trainers Handbook
  • Maintain resources required for training delivery, and report any faults or requests for replenishment to the Administration Office
  • Submit invoices according to the organisation’s standard operating procedures.
  • Implement “Duty of Care" procedures for all students according to the context of the training and in accordance with all relevant legislation
  • Observe the organisation’s intellectual property, copyright and confidentiality policies and procedures
  • Provide excellent customer service and lead by example 
  • Attend College staff meetings as required by the Senior Management and produce reports for these meetings as required as part of your professional development 
  • Proactive approach and commitment to the organisation’s management and team
  • An ability to ensure the safety of co-workers by adopting safe working practices and compliance with WH&S policies and procedures
  • Attend a minimum of two Professional Development (PD) sessions per year (must be relevant to training and assessment position)

Key selection criteria

Essential
  • Vocational qualifications to at least to the level being delivered or assessed: 
  • CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support
  • CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services
  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment 
  • Knowledge, understanding and commitment to the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015
  • Demonstrated experience in vocational education and training
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and understanding of the function of Training Packages;
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated work experience in the industry sector being taught
  • Computer skills to the level required for preparing Learners Guides and Assessments Records, i.e. Microsoft Office including Word and PowerPoint
  • Research skills to the level required to maintain knowledge of current VET issues
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • An understanding of EEO principles
  • Ability to work within a flexible environment
