The Training and Outreach Officer plays a vital role in the work of our Training Team within the Community Department. In this role, you will create, deliver and conduct assessments for external and internal training packages as well as support the work of the Community Team as a whole, in accordance with the RSPCA NSW strategic plan.
We are recruiting for a part time Training and Outreach Officer to work two days per week. This position will require the successful candidate to travel intrastate occasionally and will also require some outside of normal business hours and weekend work.
The Training and Outreach Officer is responsible and accountable for;
Training
- Delivering and assessing nationally accredited and non-accredited training packages and short courses to both external and internal clients
- Working with the Training manager to create new training content and review and validate existing content
- Participating in RTO compliance audits and working with the Training Team to meet compliance requirements
- Working with a Learning Management System (LMS) that is integrated with a Student Management System (SMS) to create innovative on-line content and manage student data in line with Privacy legislation
- Assisting the Outreach Team by supporting projects in community including vaccination drives, desexing programs, community information workshops, human service agency workshops and youth pathway programs
- Support the Education Team with school and community based education through our School Holiday Programs and other Education initiatives
- Where necessary support the Programs Team with social program work including Aged care, Homelessness, Domestic Violence and Safe Families
- Identifying risks and understanding their impact
- Following policies and procedures that will eliminate or reduce those risks
- Implementing, promoting and evaluating these policies and procedures
- Maintaining a high level of risk and compliance, work health and safety and governance
About You
- Certificate II in Animal Care or equivalent, essential
- Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, essential
- Authorised Microchip implanter, essential
- Working With Children Check, essential
- Certificate IV in Vet Nursing or relevant demonstrated experience, advantageous
- Demonstrated experience teaching in front of groups
- Previous experience working with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
- Demonstrated experience with on-line learning
- An ability to communicate clearly and convincingly and influence outcomes across all stakeholder levels
- Experience in the use of Student Management Systems, Learning Management Systems and other software relevant to the role
- Strong skills in public speaking and one-on-one learning
- Strong computer literacy skills
- An empathy for both humans and animals
- Capability to teach a diverse range of student ages and learning abilities
- Ability to accept responsibilities and accountabilities and be focused on delivering outcomes to meet RSPCA NSW objectives
