The Legal Aid Queensland library performs an essential role in supporting and enabling the work of the organisation. The library acquires, organises, maintains and provides access to a comprehensive collection of paper, audio visual, electronic and online legislation, law reports and other publications. The library also designs, develops, maintains and provides access to a range of specialist in-house legal infobases and knowledge sharing applications. These resources are accessed by in-house staff, preferred suppliers, community legal centres, the magistracy and the judiciary. Library staff provide training and support in accessing and effectively utilising these resources. As the librarian, you will contribute to the provision of high-quality library and information services to meet the needs of the library's customers.
About you
- You have knowledge of library practices and procedures, ideally in a legal or special library environment. You are competent in using relevant information technologies, including library management systems, online information resources and web technologies.
- You can assess information and training needs and develop and deliver training for library customers, ideally in a legal or special library environment. You can provide instruction and support to customers in effective use of library collections, services, products and systems on office and mobile devices.
- You can provide research and reference services and ideally have a sound knowledge of relevant legal resources and research strategies and techniques.
- You have sound interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and can build and sustain relationships with team members, other colleagues and external stakeholders.
- You can work autonomously and within a team and can plan ahead and monitor task progress to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
