Trek Support Specialist

Role Overview

LTTS is currently looking for new crew members to assist with field support taskings on the Larapinta Trail and across the Tjoritja/West Macs NP in 2024. 

​This is an entry-level position that can be physically demanding, intensive, and high-tempo during busy months. You will be expected to undertake numerous taskings on any given workday and work within very tight schedules and timings.  The role is not suited to the punctuality challenged.

Part-time or casual roles are also available. There are opportunities for a permanent full-time role at LTTS or at our new our Australian Alps Trek Support (AATS) service based in Mansfield, VIC.

Role Tasks

• Trail Transfers ( 2WD/4WD Driving on and off-road ( Hiace, Landcruiser) to most trailheads and remote areas (70% of workload)
• Food Drops to conventional storeroom points and cache points in remote areas (20% workload)
• Pre-Trek and Depot Taskings ( 10%)
• Emergency Evacuations - When required

• Alice Springs, NT based
• Full Time (36 hours per week)
• Four days per week. 9 Hour Days
• Mon-Thu / 6:30am-430pm 
• No weekend work ( unless you want extra work or O/T)
• Seasonal, Contract ( NT Tourism Season)
• Employment Period (15 April - 15 Sept 2024)
• Base Salary starting $1,620 per week
• Plus 11% superannuation

Minimum Requirements (No Exceptions)​

• Current H Endorsed Licence (NT) or willing to apply
• Current Advanced First Aid Certificate
• Full Manual NT Licence ( interstate manual drivers licence is ok)

Highly Desirable ( Any one or more)​

• Completed nationally recognised 4WD Course
• Have a mid-level of competent hiking experience
• Completed the Larapinta Trail End to End in the last three years
• Certificate III in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport)
• Hiking or trail running experience
• Ex-Army ( or reserves), Ex-Police Min 4 years service

• a Practical Exam
• a Basic Physical Fitness Test at Crossfit in Alice Springs
• a Vehicle Driving Assessment
• Extensive Reference Checks. (Your referees will be required to complete a comprehensive online reference assessment)
