- Salary: $102,641 to $110,094 - AHP3 - Full Time / Term Contract up to 3 Months
- Provides high level epidemiology skills to meet organisational objectives and outcomes designed to control the occurrence of tuberculosis in affected Aboriginal Communities in South Australia.
- Is responsible for the analysis, interpretation and internal reporting of tuberculosis data to the Department of Health and Wellbeing, Chief Executive and South Australia's Chief Public Health Officer (CPHO). Data Sources are located at CALHNs South Australian Tuberculosis (SA TB) Statewide Clinical Services, therefore official State and National reporting sits within this department.
- Is required to provide epidemiological expertise in investigations of tuberculosis disease trends that will inform investigations of tuberculosis clusters and subsequent control activities that may be required.
- Supports reporting systems and quality improvement programmes relating to tuberculosis.
- Provides strategic epidemiology leadership and participates in investigations of tuberculosis clusters and Statewide public health actioned aimed at controlling the spread of tuberculosis.
- Contribute tuberculosis data to state and national committees/sub-committees, as well as working groups if/as needed.
- Flexibility to support other parts of Disease Surveillance and Investigation Section, in times of surge.
- Has an understanding of the South Australian Public Health Act 2011.
- A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving 'Unsupervised Contact with Vulnerable Groups' is required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)
- A DHS 'Working With Children Check' (WWCC) is required for this position
- Appropriate post-graduate degree or equivalent qualification usually in mathematics/statistics or health sciences that leads to recognition as an epidemiologist.
- The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours on-call roster; some out-of-hours work will be required.
- Intrastate/interstate travel may be required.
- Core business hours are between 0830 to 1700, Monday to Friday.
- Must be ready and willing to assist in managing disease outbreaks within the community which may include travel within South Australia.
