APT (Advanced Polymer Technology) is the leading global manufacturer of polyurethane-based materials, acrylic coatings and synthetic turf products for sporting and recreational applications.
We are looking for a Tufting Mechanic to join our team at our Tufting Factory based in Dandenong South.
About THE ROLE
The Tufting Mechanic provides mechanical expertise and knowledge to set up tufting machines to manufacture synthetic sports carpeting. The role requires expertise to perform preventative maintenance or corrective actions on tufting machines and/or plant equipment in the tufting factory wherever necessary.
This is a Full time Permanent role with the hours being 2:00pm to 10:00pm - Monday to Thursday, 12pm - 8pm on Friday.
Main duties of this role are:
- Be familiar with the relevant Unit Operating Instructions.
- To set up the tufting machines according to the Production Order to begin the manufacture of synthetic sports carpeting.
- To record the results of the machine setup in the Quality Control Sheet.
- To maintain and improve the capability of the APTA tufting lines.
- To provide regular maintenance to tufting processes and other defined equipment and to document that work as part of APTA’s ISO 9001 quality system.
- To ensure appropriate inventory of spare parts, tools, and accessories to minimise machine downtime.
- To prioritise the mechanical workload to minimise machine down time.
- To maintain a tidy work area in the Mechanic’s shop.
- To participate in continuous improvement activities generated by our Quality Processes to improve customer service productivity.
- To carry out duties in accordance with the policies and procedures defined in our Quality system (ISO 9001:2000).
- To ensure work area is safe and free from obstructions.
About YOU
- Trade qualification in Mechanics or at least three years’ experience in mechanical environment.
- Proven capability to set up and maintain Tufting Machines or similar or mechanical expertise.
- Knowledge and adherence to all OH&S requirements.
- Ability to process documentation in accordance with procedures.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes.
- You will be mechanically minded and be able to identify and rectify mechanical defects.
- You will have a desire to work in a hands-on, manufacturing environment.
- You will have good English written and oral communications with basic PC skills.
