This major metropolitan teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre provides excellent healthcare for more than 58,000 patients in the Emergency Department annually and sees around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units of the Hospital. The hospital has a busy outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year.The hospital is affiliated with various Universities and premier medical teaching facilities which fosters a collaborative environment where staff can deliver exceptional patient care, continuously improve clinical teaching practices, and contribute to medical research.
The Job

• As a Surgical Registrar, you will provide effective clinical management of surgical patients
• Immediate start for 12 months with the possibility of extension
• You will develop your expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment
• As a Surgical Registrar, you will work closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management while under the guidance of the Attending Medical Officer
• You will assist with and undertake surgical procedures in theatres, commensurate with competence and as approved by supervisors
• You will have the opportunity to teach and supervise other more junior clinical staff and medical students within the department

Requirements

• Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) with minimum Level 2 supervision requirements, OR eligibility for registration via the Competent Authority Pathway
• *Please note doctors seeking their first position in Australia via the Standard Pathway or doctors with current registration and Level 1 supervision requirements cannot be considered at this time
• A minimum of 3 years of postgraduate experience and previous experience in a surgical department
