Our target project opportunities include Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Wind Projects, as well as Hydrogen and Ammonia projects.
UGL New Energy is currently seeking an Undergraduate to work with our Estimating located in Perth Western Australia (WA).
About the role
The Undergraduate Estimator is responsible for provision of the expertise required for preparing and submitting accurate tender estimates in the New Energy business.
You will
- Assist in the delivery of accurate and timely estimates
- Assist Estimators to ensure timely completion of tenders
- Attend relevant review meetings as required
- Attend post tender and pre-award meetings with clients to answer any queries or to get a better understanding of requirements. Also be available for client liaison and queries at other times outside of set meetings
- Support completion of final submission for presentation to the client
- Ensure all estimates comply with the contract and project standards / guidelines for estimating
- Develop standards and procedures for the projects estimating activities that align to the contract requirements and ensure compliance
- Consult with Operational departments to determine accuracy of tendering on jobs won and completed
- Analyse bids lost to determine why and by how much
- Arrange archiving of tenders not won
- Maintain supporting documentation for all estimates provided
- Undertake any ad-hoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the GM, Pre-Contracts Manager & Lead Estimator
- Undertake all responsibilities in a safe manner
- Ensure a safe working condition is present for all employees, contractors, and visitors
- Participate in daily pre-start meetings
- Estimating experience in similar role across solar, utilities, resource, and infrastructure sectors desired
- Completing a degree or Diploma in Engineering or Business
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
- Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, email etc.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
