UNDERGROUND GRADUATE GEOLOGIST

Location: Tuart, and will rotate through all the underground mines

Roster: 8:6 (Residential Only, NO FIFO OPTION)

Norton Gold Fields is one of Australia’s largest domestic gold producers, with recent annual production of up to 200,000 ounces. The Company has a mining and processing complex in Western Australia’s world-class Kalgoorlie goldfield region, including a highly prospective tenement package of more than 1,000km² surrounding the 3.8Mtpa Paddington Mill. 

Currently Norton Gold Fields is progressing its expansion of two underground mine sites namely Tuart and Enterprise and various open pit projects such as Federal, Jakarta, Golden Funnel, Rose Dam South and Rose Dam North this year.

Duties

• Collect all mediums of geological data to enable accurate integration into the mine planning process to optimise metal extraction and extend the life of the mine.
• Ensure that daily ore production data is accurately reported in a timely manner.
• Sample Faces Underground and provide accurate timely directional information of UG operators.
• Perform UG production duties, including Stope checks, Stockpile management, ROM management.
• Log and process core from UG diamond drilling accurately and efficiently.
• Establish effective communication channels with team members, UG drillers and operators, fostering seamless collaboration.
• UG backs and wall mapping to a high standard
• Assist in interpretation of the deposit structure, lithology and mineralisation
• QAQC checks 
• Work collaboratively with the Tech and operational teams to ensure delivery of daily and weekly plan, while maximising recovery and reducing dilution
• Any other duties as required.

Qualification Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in Geology
• Current unencumbered C class Western Australian Drivers Licence
• NPC clearance 
• High Risk Licence (Forklift) (desirable)

Skills and Experience  

WORK KNOWLEDGE:

• Previous vacation experience in Geology / mining role (desirable);
• Ability to think in 3D.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

• Ability to engage team and others to solve problems, develop solutions and get things done. 
• Ability to build and maintain positive respectful relationships required to achieve role purpose. 
• Able to read and write English at an Australian Upper Secondary School standard, including strong comprehension and understanding skills

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Medium level Microsoft office suite
• Ability to learn 3D mining software
