PanAust Limited (“PanAust”) is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold producer in Laos, with pre-development and exploration assets in Laos, Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Chile. This is an opportunity to join PanAust during an exciting period of revitalising its development opportunity pipeline as well as analysing inorganic growth options.

Our Assets

In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in the Lao-registered company, Phu Bia Mining Limited. The Government of Laos owns the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation. 

In PNG, PanAust holds 100 per cent interest in the Frieda River Copper-Gold Project. Frieda River is one of the largest known undeveloped copper and gold deposits in the world and offers PanAust excellent potential for the establishment of a world-class, long-life operation.

In Chile, PanAust holds a 66 per cent interest in the Inca de Oro Copper-Gold Project through a Chilean incorporated joint venture company, Inca de Oro S.A as well as 100 per cent of the Carmen and Artemisa exploration tenements. 

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Business Analyst, this fixed term role is primarily responsible for supporting the PanAust Group investment portfolio framework. It does this by delivering valuation information to facilitate value-based investment decisions, analysing long-term strategic market developments and providing global and country macro-economic analysis for input into the PanAust Group strategy, directional planning and business performance management. The position is based in the James Street Brisbane office.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Leads the financial modelling, valuation and analysis for investments through collaboration within key parts of the PanAust Group. These investments include mergers, acquisitions, divestments, and other capital projects.
• Conducts valuation activities, applies methodologies consistently and provides insight into the financial robustness of the investment alternatives to optimise the portfolio value of the PanAust Group.
• Coordinates and manages the economic assumptions for the life of mine, budgets and investment models across the PanAust Group.
• Provides data-driven analysis and outputs to assist with making strategic and financial decisions across the PanAust Group.
• Leading the economic analysis for development projects progressing through the development phases of concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, development and operations.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

• Relevant tertiary degree qualifications in finance, engineering, economics, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience with economic and financial modelling or investment portfolio management.
• Experience in investment banking is highly desirable.
• Experienced with mergers, acquisitions, divestments and funding processes and structures. 
• Experience in the development of the inputs and economic evaluation of projects.
• Proficient user of MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
