About the role 

The role will ideally suit an experienced, outdoor orientated person who enjoys working with plants, is a team player capable of leading by example with a positive can-do approach to their work. This is a position for a person who thrives in a physical environment and enjoys all aspects of horticultural work.

The primary role involves managing the propagation and planting in our specialised Vegetative propagation areas. 

The right candidate will be responsible for:

• Coordinating and overseeing the propagation of plants through vegetative cutting methods; 
• Supervising and leading a team of horticultural workers;
• Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective work performance;
• Assigning work schedules and monitoring daily output, ensuring accurate record keeping for stock control;
• Collecting and preparing cutting material of various varieties, both on and off site;
• Planning production targets and planting schedules to meet Sales team requests;
• Monitoring plant health, identify pests, diseases, and other issues;
• Managing watering and irrigation schedules to maintain optimal moisture levels;
• Ensuring correct stock identification and labelling in accordance with standard procedures;
• Coordinating with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of inputs and supplies required for production activities;

Requirements:

• Horticultural Certificate lll and relevant industry experience.
• In-depth knowledge of plants, especially Australian Natives, and horticultural practices.
• Experience with Vegetative propagation.
• Understanding of plant propagation techniques including bulb scaling and tissue cultures.
• An understanding of AS 2303:2015 /NATSPEC. 
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
