The Ulan Complex is comprised of Ulan Underground Mine, Ulan West Mine, and Ulan Surface Operations. The Complex has two established, efficient, and high production underground longwall coal mining operation in the western coalfields of NSW.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager and as an integral member of the Technical Services team, you will be responsible to control and manage the ventilation activities and standards at the mine. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining the mine's statutory compliance by implementing and maintaining appropriate gas monitoring systems;
- Managing ventilation systems that provide the underground operations with suitable airflow for fresh air provisions and contaminate removal;
- Undertaking the monthly ventilation status report, measuring airflow and atmospheric conditions;
- Ensuring there is a current and accurate ventilation model of the mine which considers life of mine operational plans; and
- Reviewing and updating relevant hazard management plans as required.
You will also have a willingness to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities and take on new challenges and responsibilities. You will have excellent computer literacy within Microsoft office and Ventsim.
The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications as a Statutory Coal Mine Ventilation Officer with a preference for a degree or tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or operational exposure within UG coal mines. You must demonstrate a strong understanding of both technical and operational aspects of underground coal mining. Additional statutory qualifications will be highly regarded.
