We are seeking highly experienced, professional Vessel Engineer to join our marine crew and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our tug, “Sea Pelican” and harbour tugs. About the Role:
- Performing the role of Vessel Engineer on short and longer duration sea tows of our suite of Barges and Dredgers
- Assisting in project operations once mobilized to sites
- Maintenance of vessel, plant and ancillary equipment as per programmed maintenance schedule and budgetary constraints
- Compilation of maintenance and operational reports as required
- Supervision of personnel undertaking and assisting with maintenance
About you:
You have extensive experience in the Marine industry bringing with you a sound understanding of general vessel structure and mechanics. You’re self-motivated, hard-working and your work ethic is second to none. You enjoy working with a committed team and can do so with minimal supervision. Additionally, you:
- You are adaptable, flexible and able to live on board while working away
- Weekend availability is essential to be able to work safely in ever-changing weather conditions
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have a genuine commitment to QHSE compliance and shipboard safety
- Good overall Seamanship skills
- Have ability to self-diagnose and rectify mechanical problems when encountered
- Must pass a full pre-employment medical including functional capacity fitness evaluation and drug and alcohol screening
Skills/Qualification:
- Must have minimum MED 2. MED 1 viewed favorably
- Must hold a current Construction White Card and Elements of Shipboard Safety
- High risk tickets such as dogging and rigging desirable but not essential
- Coxswain, Masters ticket viewed favorably
- Experience towing Barges and working close quarters in and around marine structures desirable but not essential
- Must have current First Aid & CPR
- Must have a current driver’s license
