By supporting the academic endeavour across teaching, research, and the student life, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to activities that have a lasting impact on our community.Join an organisation where excellence is at the core of our culture, contributions are valued, and a range of are available, such as:and, medical clinic, and post office26 weeks paid parental leave or 14 weeks paid primary caregiver leave17% superannuation contributions17.5% annual leave loading25% discount on eligible servicesAccess to our $4.1 millionVolunteer in ourAbout This OpportunityWe are seeking 2 motivated, driven people who would like to optimise the opportunity to become a Veterinary Nurse Intern and commence their Veterinary Nursing career at UQ.Reporting to the Nurse Manager, working under supervision and with training, this role provides support and assistance to veterinary staff and Clinical Academics involved in the undergraduate teaching of veterinary and veterinary technology students in a clinical environment.Key responsibilities will include:Maintain high standards of nursing principles and practices under supervision.Support a large team of veterinary and nursing staff, including specialists.Assess, monitor, and treat patients within the Hospital/s, coordinating with veterinarians and specialists.Care for and maintain technical equipment, including ECG, fluid pumps, Doppler, etc.Assist with various diagnostic procedures like radiography, CT, Scintigraphy, and MRI.Perform diagnostic clinical pathology techniques.Help document standard operating procedures for nursing activities.Perform basic operations using veterinary computer software.Assist with managing pharmacy inventory using practice management software.Provide customer service to clinic clients, students, staff, and external clients in-person and by phone.Provide administrative support to clinic staff and assist with reception duties as needed.This is a full-time internship on a fixed term contract for 12 months commencing on 2 January 2025 through to 1 January 2026.At HEW level 3, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $63,689.65 – $70,103.64, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $74,516.89
– $82,021.26 annually.About YouA Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) and/or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology or Cert IV in Veterinary NursesPossess or be willing and able to apply for a radiation licenceDemonstrated ability to effectively communicate to maintain professional and operational relationships with all stakeholders including colleagues, clients, and students.Ability to learn and carry out clinic-specific protocols.Demonstrated ability to work flexibly with use of initiative and autonomyWillingness to participate in professional service activities e.g. AVNAT registration, VNCA, Community organisations, RSPCA, AVA PetPeP.In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
