About the Role
The Faculty of Fine Arts and Music invites applications from dynamic early career researchers working in or around the area of Virtual Production. We are looking for a passionate, creative staff member who can push the boundaries of digital content generation or expand the possibilities of storytelling through Virtual Production technologies. Proposals will be considered from staff working in any area on this spectrum including:

  • Digital content creation including AI and other emerging workflows
  • Hardware capabilities (colour management systems and other developing VP processes)
  • 3D environment building for VR or VP LED volumes
  • Gaming, animation, photogrammetry or VFX
  • Filmmaking and ICVFX in Virtual Production

The Research Fellowship is designed to support talented, doctoral graduates who are working on innovation within the area of Virtual Production to establish and consolidate their research careers by contributing to the intellectually vibrant research culture of the Faculty. The Fellowship is a research-focussed role providing dedicated research time within a supportive and collegial research environment, with access to the new Virtual Production studio and LED screen at the Southbank campus. The successful candidate will receive research, teaching and academic career training and mentoring, designed to equip the candidate for a career as a teaching and research-focused academic at an Australian or international university.

Who We Are Looking For
We're in search of a dynamic team member who exudes passion and creativity, capable of pushing the limits of digital content creation or exploring innovative storytelling through Virtual Production technologies. As a PhD graduate with a proven research track record, you should demonstrate an ability to engage in multidisciplinary collaborative research, secure external funding and eagerness to contribute to the research outcomes of the Faculty.

You will also have:

  • Graduated or have met the requirements to graduate with a PhD awarded no later than 1 January 2023.
  • A research track record in Virtual Production

This position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check to ensure the University provides a safe environment for everyone.
