About the Role
Working in the Consular section of the U.S. Consulate General Melbourne, the incumbent performs consular cashier duties at U.S. Consulate Melbourne, as well as processes a large and complex visa workload, which includes applications from nationals of over 150 countries. The incumbent collects over forty different types of fees for non-immigrant visas, immigrant visa services, and U.S. citizen services, producing required fee reconciliation reports and adhering to strict management controls. Incumbent provides visa support services including the preloading, data entry, and printing of visas, as well as drafts and processes required security advisory opinions, clearances, and waivers of criminal visa ineligibilities. Incumbent processes all types of nonimmigrant visa classifications and does all pre-processing of NIVs, including loading cases, completing data entry, and corresponding with applicants, as needed. The incumbent has extensive contact with the public, in-person and via email. The Consular Cashier reports directly the Supervisory Visa Assistant and indirectly to the Accountable Consular Officer (ACO).
Skills and Experience
- Two (2) years of full-time experience in work applying regulatory material, working with public and customers which includes cash handling duties is required.
- Completion of high school (Year 12) is required.
- Fluent speaking/reading/writing English is required. This may be tested.
