What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Coffs Clinical Network (CCN) Director of Medical Services, the VMO Ophthalmologist will provide best practice evidence based clinical services, assist in the education and supervision within the clinical environment of junior medical staff and other relevant staff.
Commitment includes provision of operating surgery in the theatre and providing consultative service for inpatients only. The successful applicant will be expected to establish their own private consulting rooms within the Coffs Coast area and participate in the on-call roster for the Coffs Clinical Network.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases
If you are applying for a Category A position, under the NSW Health Policy Directive PD2022_030, evidence of current immunity status that complies with the policy must be supplied.
COVID-19 Vaccination Compliancy
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form)
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.
Selection Criteria
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Ophthalmologist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Ophthalmology.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to work / travel across the District as required.
