About the role

As Vocational Pathways Coordinator you will be part of the Learning and Development team and responsible for overseeing and coordinating the vocational employment programs, such as traineeships, apprenticeships, cadetships, internships, vocational/industry placements and work experience programs within council.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • develop, implement, and evaluate vocational employment programs, aligning them with organisational goals and workforce development needs
  • develop recruitment strategies and tools to attract and select high-quality students by coordinating recruitment campaigns and working with external stakeholders such as schools and universities in collaboration with the People Services team
  • coordinate and oversee the training and development activities of students, in collaboration with departmental management, supervisors and training providers
  • ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and policies governing vocational employment programs to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student placements, progress, and achievements
  • prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies, funding agencies, and management, as necessary
  • promote vocational employment programs externally to attract potential participants and engage with the local community
  • advocate for the value and benefits of vocational employment programs, both within council and to external stakeholders
  • participate in industry forums, conferences, and networking events to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in vocational employment programs

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • an excellent fit with our values of communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership
  • bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, or a related field (relevant work experience may substitute for formal education)
  • proven experience in managing vocational employment programs, such as trainee and apprenticeships and/or internships and graduate programs management experience
  • knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to apprenticeships and traineeships
  • strong organisational and project management skills
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • ability to develop and deliver training programs and workshops
  • attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • proficient in using computer software and learning management systems
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team

This is a fixed term position until October 2024, Level 6 with a salary commencing at $100,533 per year plus superannuation of up to 12.25%.
