Introduction to Trades and Services - Vocational Support Officers

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Vocational Skills Instructor will undertake instruction in the Vocational Skills Workshop for the prison. This position supervises a team who develop and deliver Industries induction and accredited training for offenders. Training is designed to maximise opportunities for offenders to gain employment upon release from prison. This position will provide relief assistance within the prison’s workshops where required by management.

Pool Recruitment

This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.

The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies at similar locations, with the Department of Justice for the duration of the pool.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Valid manual class "C" motor vehicle driving licence
  • Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) accreditation (or equivalent) with a minimum of 12 months validity remaining
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment and/or the requirement to attain within 9 months
  • Construction trade certificate at Certificate III level
  • Construction Industry White Card
