ABOUT THE ROLE
The Professional Educator College (PEC) is responsible for providing capability uplift in the professional practice of Chisholm's teaching staff. The Vocational Training Mentoring Specialist will develop, monitor, support, and deliver mentoring services to vocational education teams across the Institute. The incumbent will be a key and active participant in the Professional Educator College (PEC) and provide expertise to the Manager, Senior Business Partners, and other members of the PEC team.
This is a project role that will provide a comprehensive assessment of educator needs and goals and develops a mentoring framework for rollout across the organisation. The project will involve the development of tailored programs with clear objectives, designed to provide a clear pathway for educators to identify and meet their aspirational goals. This position will require the incumbent to implement a pilot program, providing ongoing monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes. The Vocational Training Mentor Specialist will also guide mentoring participants to increase their knowledge, skills, and confidence in their chosen fields.
The role requires a deep understanding of mentoring best practices, an ability to foster relationships between mentors and mentees, and the skill to develop and implement training programs for participants. The role has a strong internal focus but also requires some collaboration with external organisations. Its orientation is a blend of operational and strategic, and the Vocational Training Mentor Specialist is accountable to the Department Manager for a broad range of functions that include leadership and advisory responsibilities. It also includes operational responsibilities that include building and maintaining mentoring relationships with education teams.
ABOUT YOU
You will have the following qualifications, skills & experience:
- Experience in conducting a needs analysis in consultation with key stakeholders and producing innovative programs within robust frameworks.
- Strong communication skills to build relationships with mentors, mentees, and other stakeholders.
- Active listening skills to understand the stakeholder perspectives and respond appropriately to their needs.
- Teaching and instructional skills to impart knowledge and skills effectively and engagingly.
- Ability to create and implement training and induction sessions that align with the mentor/mentee’s goals and learning styles.
- Interpersonal skills to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Problem-solving skills to address issues and challenges that may arise during the planning and implementation phases of the program.
- Organisational skills to manage multiple mentoring relationships and training programs simultaneously.
- Knowledge of the Vocational Training sector, including trends and best practices.
- Ability to provide feedback constructively and motivate mentoring participants to improve their performance.
- Empathy and understanding to support mentoring participants with personal and professional challenges.
- Technological proficiency to manage multiple digital platforms and communication tools effectively.
