About the Role
An opportunity exists for a motivated Bushland Maintenance Assistant to join our Vegetation Team to provide Bushland Maintenance and complete community nursery activities and fire mitigation works within publicly owned bushland areas.
What you will be doing:
• Assist with Bushland Maintenance including regeneration and bushfire mitigation activities
• Assist with maintenance of walking trails, fencing, gates, barriers and signage
• Carry out work within the Community Nursery including the maintenance and repair of facilities; propagation of selected plants; and general nursery maintenance
• Ensure the Bushland Maintenance and fire mitigation works are carried out in accordance with the Local Government Act and to the requirements of Government Authorities, including but not limited to the Environmental Protection Authority, Rural Fire Service, NSW Department of Planning and Environment, and the WorkCover Authority
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the wider community, customers and other stakeholders
• Provide support to volunteers by assisting in supervision, training, and education
• Raise public awareness of bushland issues and advise the public on environmental impact on bushland areas through either education or interpretative programs
• Conduct a daily maintenance check of plant and equipment and report issues
• Assist with maintenance of standard operating procedures and processes
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have:
1. Bush Regeneration Certificate or equivalent qualification
2. White Card - General Construction Induction
3. First Aid and CPR
4. Maintain Chainsaws
5. Trim and Cut Felled Trees
6. Chemical Safety Accreditation AQF3
7. Drivers Licence (Class C) - NSW
8. Traffic Controller
9. Working with Children Check
Position details:
Permanent full-time role, Sunday – Thursday (RDO on alternate Thursdays)
W0151 Salary: Up to $68K + Sunday penalty rates + Superannuation.
