This Talent Register is an online portal that allows you to register your interest for casual and fixed term, full-time and part-time opportunities up to six (6) months for a range of key positions across the Education Business Services Division.

The Department of Education’s priority and focus remains on appointing merit based selected staff, permanently.

We are seeking staff to support a new Government initiative, the WA Student Assistance Payment initiative. This initiative will provide a one-off payment for every student in WA to alleviate the cost-of-living pressures on families for their children attending school. Communication to schools, as well as a Statewide advertising campaign, will inform parents, carers, and students of their eligibility to receive this payment and will provide the information required to submit a claim.

We are seeking to appoint a range of employees to support the roll out of this initiative in casual and fixed-term contract positions at levels 3 to 7.

These positions include:

Call Centre staff:Call centre staff will manage incoming calls from the public and schools. Suitable applicants will have the customer service skills necessary to respond positively to any queries that may arise. These positions are levels 3, 5 and 6.

  • Level 3 Customer Service Officers will operate the call centre between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm. These positions will respond to telephone queries from the public and schools regarding the initiative.
  • Level 5 Customer Service Team Leaders will coordinate the activities of the Call Centre Customer Service team. These positions will respond to escalated telephone queries and provide support to the level 3 Customer Service Officers.
  • Level 6 Customer Service and Special Project Data Centre Coordinators will line manage the Customer Service Call Centre teams. These positions lead, coordinate, monitor call centre activities and support members of the team to provide quality customer service to clients.

Data Centre staff:Data entry staff will have high attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely data entry into an online system and process payments as a result of this initiative. These positions are levels 3, 4, 5 and 6.

  • Level 3 Data Centre Officers will process applications for payment and will maintain data integrity and confidentiality at all times.
  • Level 4 Data Centre Officers will receive offline applications for processing, while ensuring the highest level of confidentiality and data integrity is maintained.
  • Level 5 Data Centre Team Leader will coordinate the activities of the Data Centre Officers and identify and analyse data and prepare reports for review.
  • Level 6 Data Centre Coordinators will line manage the activities of the team and will analyse data and provide comprehensive reports.

Other staff:We are also seeking to fill other positions to support the project team, including responding to school queries and disputes, preparing correspondence, briefings, reports and ministerial communications, and research and analysis of documents and data.

  • Level 4 Officers will provide operational support to the project team, including assisting in school queries, disputes resolution, the preparation of reports, briefings and correspondence. These positions will ensure effective management of confidential records and papers.
  • Level 7 Principal Consultants will advise on school queries, disputes resolution, prepare and evaluate briefing papers and correspondence relating to the initiative. These positions will provide high-level specialist support to the Manager, Special Projects.

The above positions may commence from Monday 8 April 2024 and will be located at the Department of Education Central Office in East Perth. Rostered shifts will be scheduled during standard business hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm) from Monday to Friday.

Successful applicants will consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check to obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit () prior to commencement.
