About the Role
The Warehouse Storeperson is responsible for the efficient handling, storage and distribution of goods within the warehouse. This includes receiving incoming shipments, picking and packing orders and maintaining accurate inventory records.
About You
This position will work in a warehouse environment (in Newington) and occasionally may be required to work outside normal business hours to meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick items from inventory to fulfil internal Kitting orders using Bills of Materials to meet Production build schedule and customer orders.
- Pack orders securely to prevent damage during transit.
- Prepare orders for shipping according to company procedures and shipping requirements.
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against shopping documents and unload goods from delivery vehicles.
- Inspect received items for damage and report discrepancies or damages to the appropriate parties.
- Properly store received goods in designated locations within the warehouse.
- Ensure that items are stored safely and securely to prevent damage or loss.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and any other equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations whilst operating equipment
- Act in the capacity of support to perform quality checks on incoming and outgoing goods to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications. Identity and quarantine any items that do not meet quality requirements.
- Prepare outgoing shipments for delivery or pickup by carriers. Generate shipping labels and documentation as required. Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Conduct regular inventory counts to ensure accuracy of stock levels. Update inventory records in the warehouse management system.
- Replenish stock as needed to maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate workflow and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise.
Required Skills & Competencies
- A current forklift licence
- Be physically fit
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Previous warehouse experience desirable but not essential
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
