A little bit about the role
Reporting to the Coordinator Waste Operations, you will be responsible for the collection of household waste, hard waste, recycle and food organic / green waste materials and to dispose of these materials.
You will operate Council plant and equipment and provide physical labour in the collection of household waste, hard waste, recycle and food organic / green waste materials. As a customer focused organisation, we require timely collection of all waste and recycle materials within the allocated rounds and retrieval of all spillages.
The role will assist waste staff in loading and unloading goods and waste materials into the collection vehicles and place stickers or cards on bins or in letter boxes where collection material does not meet Council requirements.
What are we looking for?
You will have demonstrated experience driving a heavy rigid vehicle (essential) and be able to use of a range of mechanical plant equipment.
Your excellent communication skills are essential to enable effective interaction with residents, supervisors and other employees. Your knowledge of safe lifting and manual handling practices and experience in the Waste industry is also required.
Qualifications & Employment Requirements
Australian driver’s license to drive a heavy rigid vehicle.
Demonstrated experience driving a heavy rigid vehicle.
Demonstrated experience in the use of a range of mechanical plant.
Physical ability to undertake manual labour.
Oral communication skills to enable effective interaction with residents, supervisors and other employees.
Knowledge of safe lifting and manual handling practices.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Satisfactory pre-employment medical check and to support a child safe organisation a current Employee Working with Children Clearance.
