The City is seeking a experienced Waste Transformation Specialist to generate high level circular economy initiatives for the Waste and Cleaning Sub-Unit to safeguard the environmental health of the community. Under broad direction, this role will plan, implement, monitor and adapt significant projects for achievement of the City’s strategic objectives.  

This role will work collaboratively with the Waste and Cleaning Manager and manage a Waste Education team to ensure the design, implementation and evaluation of strategic projects is effective and efficient.

Reporting directly to the Alliance Manager Operations, this role plays an integral part in the City by:

• Identify and facilitate innovation, change and continuous improvement strategies in line alignment with the City’s Strategic Community Plan, Corporate Business Plan and the Waste Management Plan.
• Provide general direction to the waste Education team and indirect support to staff across the Waste and Cleaning Sub-Unit, conducting performance reviews and providing staff training and development as applicable.
• Undertake feasibility, planning and budget preparation of significant waste and cleaning capital projects.
• Prioritise, implement and analytically monitor projects against objectives, standards, timelines and key performance indicators and where necessary recommend areas for improvement and action adaptations, whilst being ultimately accountable for outcomes.
• Maintain compliant work practices in accordance with all relevant legislation, recordkeeping frameworks and all other relevant Council policies and procedures, and other frameworks.

This roles will work from Council House in Perth CBD and the Osborne Park Depot as required. Offering great family friendly hours and work life balance.

This role requires Strong senior stakeholder-based communication and presentation skills, with an ability to take a broad perspective on matters as well as persuade and explain technical subjects to a range of audiences.
