The role:

We are expanding our Water Division and looking for either an experienced Water Engineer or Water Planning Technical Officer to join MidCoast Council. The role filled will be dependent on the successful candidate’s previous work history, qualifications, skills, and experience. This means, applicants holding a degree level qualification in Engineering will fall under the role of Water Engineer, and applicants who do not hold a degree in Engineering, will fall under the role of Water Planning Technical Officer.

This vacancy sits within the Water Planning and Assets Department of the Infrastructure and Engineering Services Division and is responsible for ensuring the effective planning and management of water and sewer infrastructure projects.

What you'll bring

Water Engineer - You will hold a degree level qualification in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a similar discipline.

Water Planning Technical Officer – You will have qualifications in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or similar discipline, and/or several years’ relevant experience.

Ideally, we are looking for an individual with demonstrated experience in the water and sewer industry and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements. In addition, having knowledge of water system functions and experience in service planning, project management, development assessment and/or construction will be highly regarded. A diploma level qualification in Project Management or relevant project management experience will be advantageous.

The Water Engineer/Water Planning Technical Officer will play an integral role where you will collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals, working to develop and implement long term strategies and plans to ensure the sustainable growth of our region. This will require a strong ability to research, analyse, interpret, and present data effectively contributing to shaping the infrastructure of our local community.

Salary:

Water Engineer:

  • Base salary $88,700 p.a. - $97,500 p.a. (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience)
  • Superannuation (11%)

Water Planning Technical Officer:

  • Base salary $80,600 p.a. - $88,700 p.a. (commencing salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on qualifications, skills and experience)
  • Superannuation (11%)

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
