Job description

Who we are

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra—we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home —just as we have for almost 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

As a Water Network Planning Engineer, you will collaborate to prepare innovative risk-based adaptive service plans for the water transfer network to service Melbourne’s growth, and to manage other risks in an integrated water system context through investigations, planning and analysis.

This will be achieved through:

  • Project management and preparation of investigations, options assessments and adaptive service plans for the water transfer network in an integrated water system context.
  • Managing technical complexity with limited supervision, bringing innovative solutions and providing advice and expertise to the Drinking Water Strategy & Policy team and stakeholders.
  • Developing, maintaining and running Water Network hydraulic models and analysing model results to support investigations, options assessments and adaptive service plans for the Water Network.
About you
  • Experience and knowledge in water transfer Network Planning, hydraulic modelling and concept design in an integrated water system context
  • Experience with risk assessment, multi-criteria assessment, cost estimation, cost benefit analysis, net present value modelling, business case preparation and safety in planning
