About the RoleReporting to the Manager - Drinking Water Strategy & Policy, this is a pivotal role within the Service Strategy team. As a Water Network Planning Engineer, you will collaborate to prepare innovative risk-based adaptive service plans for the water transfer network to service Melbourne’s growth, and to manage other risks in an integrated water system context through investigations, planning and analysis.
This will be achieved through:
- Project management and preparation of investigations, options assessments and adaptive service plans for the water transfer network in an integrated water system context.
- Managing technical complexity with limited supervision, bringing innovative solutions and providing advice and expertise to the Drinking Water Strategy & Policy team and stakeholders.
- Developing, maintaining and running Water Network hydraulic models and analysing model results to support investigations, options assessments and adaptive service plans for the Water Network.
- Experience and knowledge in water transfer Network Planning, hydraulic modelling and concept design in an integrated water system context
- Experience with risk assessment, multi-criteria assessment, cost estimation, cost benefit analysis, net present value modelling, business case preparation and safety in planning
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence decisions, understand the needs of others and negotiate
- Degree in a relevant discipline of engineering
