Water Quality Analyst Level 2

Our government client is seeking to engage a Water Quality Analyst Level 2 to assist their Trace Analysis laboratory with the analysis of water and environmental samples. Recent graduates will be considered.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent (Degree or TAFE/Diploma qualifications)
• Analysis of water and environmental samples with 1-2 years experience in trace analysis and metals testing and basic understanding of PCR techniques.
• Preparation of solids and liquids for organic and metals testing (ie. sonication, liquid/liquid extraction and acid digestion) with skills in digestion of waters and solids for metals.
• Experience in operation of instruments such as ICPOES and ICPMS and including instruments and equipment such as PCR, GC, HPLC, IC and ICP, spectrophotometers and microscopes.
• Calibration and maintenance of equipment.
• Ability to work safely, undertake risk assessments and report hazards and incidents, knowledge of handling and storage of potentially hazardous materials.
• Identify problems and undertake problem solving and troubleshooting appropriate to level.
• Check relevant data entry for accuracy, report unusual results and issues immediately to a Supervisor, Team Leader or Manager.
• Work cooperatively with team members.
• Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with minimal or no supervision.
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn new tasks, methods, instruments and equipment, as appropriate.
• Ability to use computers and tablets and associated software, including Microsoft Windows, Lab information management System (LIMS) and Office and various mobile devices.
• Ability to lift up to 10kg.
