Weekend Bakery Shop Assistant - All Rounder— Casual Position

*Must be available to be rostered 7:00 am - 4:15 pm Saturday* 

We are looking for an applicant who is friendly, reliable, honest and works with a great attitude to life; who is also highly motivated, switched on and hardworking to add to our team as an all-rounder. If this sounds like you, please read on.If you have any qualifications in food safety or retail/hospitality, this will be a bonus, but we can always provide on-the-job training to the right applicant. We are looking for someone to fill a few shifts during the week. (opening and closing the shop)(*we do have another job ad suited to a Uni student/ Mon- Fri hours during the week, please apply there if that is you)The job role is for an applicant who might be going to school during the week or who wants a few hours. The applicant can work either an open or a closing shift on the weekends.Amount of hours being offered per weekThe possible total hours for the week are 5-6, depending on whether it is an open or a closing shift. (there are always opportunities to pick up a Sunday shift or shift in the school holidays)The Pay Rate /AwardWe follow the general retail award for the hourly paid rates.The days need to be filled.Saturday, 7 am-4:15 pm, is when the shop needs to be staffed. (other possible shifts are school holidays Monday -Friday, 7 am - 4:15 pm, Sundays 9 am-3:15 pm (Public holidays are 9:15 am-215pm- we only ask the staff that have the experience to fill these)Trading HoursWe are open seven days a week, and our trading hours are 7:15 am -4 pm Mon-Sat and Sun 9:15 am -3 pm (public holidays 9:30 am-2 pm).Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• A passion for food and providing an enjoyable customer experience.

• A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment but can work independently.

• Proactive approach in ensuring our Bakery is clean, tidy and fully stocked

• Able to follow systems and procedures well

Desirable

• Some experience in the Bakery industry,  or Fast Food Industry, or Hospitality 
• Food Safety Certificate (I can send you a link to complete the course)
• Time management skills

What are the responsibilities of the roles of the job?Customer service:Being polite and friendly, Taking customers' orders, gathering the products, handling money, and using devices to finish the transaction. Answering the phone and providing customer service over the phone. Able to understand and speak English well.Barista work:Taking customers' orders, making the coffee/drink order, handling money, and using devices to finish the transaction. Filling stock:Use a bakery oven to heat pastries, fill the pie warmer, fill the drink fridge and fill the cold and dry food cabinets.Packing products:Freshly baked bakery products.Cleaning:Keeping the shop front and bakery clean and hygienic clean. Clearing tables, cleaning - benches, utensils, dishes, bakery machinery and equipment, and floors.Making selected bakery products:This may include making selected bakery products and fillings. This will be taught on the job.What does the typical day look likeUsually, the workday flow is as follows:Getting the shop ready for hungry and thirsty customers, providing excellent customer service and a great atmosphere,  whilst fulfilling customers' orders for food and drinks for those hungry bellies and thirsty mouths. (This could be an opportunity to get to know the locals as we are a local bakery and only the locals know about us, so potentially, we are a “best-kept secret” for the locals.)Occasionally a customer might want to order cakes or other bakery products for a special event. This might involve creativity to help the customer plan the food they require for the event. We also provide a wholesale service where chefs and cooks will ring up to place their orders for the next day. We also pride ourselves on keeping the bakery hygienically clean and want to keep our 5-star rating for cleanliness. So, there is everyday cleaning in the food business and a weekly cleaning schedule we like to follow to help us keep our 5-star rating.We place orders for stock items like soft drinks, juices, and milk drinks.
