WHS Assistant

We are seeking an experienced WHS Assistant to join one of our government clients for an immediate start. The main focus is on administrative duties to address specific business needs.

The Role

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Reviewing and consulting on SOPs and SWIs
• Conducting risk assessments
• Investigating incidents and hazards
• Updating and reviewing Chemalert
• Conducting quarterly WHS site inspections
• Lead and manage Council's chemical database system including risk assessments and safe use of chemicals
• Assist the WHS Advisor and WHS Officer with administration of programs, projects and events
• Actively contribute to the development and completion of Council's WHS Plans and Programs
• Manage, monitor and review compliance with WHS and Return to Work obligations as well as other regulatory, legislative and policy requirements
• Provide support with incident / injury reporting systems and statistical data as required

Experience Required

We are seeking applications from candidates who bring:

• Strong background / qualification in WHS
• Proficiency in various software applications, including internal systems like Chemalert and Technology1
• Experience and knowledge of depot operations
• Experience in WHS risk assessment and hazard management particularly in an outdoor operational environment
• Knowledge and application of WHS legislative compliance and relevant standards
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to establish credibility and deliver high quality outcomes for our community
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and motivate individuals
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines
• Ability to be resilient, innovative, flexible and readily accommodate change
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
