About our client

Hunter Executive Search Consultants is collaborating with a prominent national supplier of construction equipment catering to the construction and heavy equipment industry.

In response to their continuous growth and steadfast dedication to safety, they are actively seeking an experienced Workplace Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (WHSEQ) Advisor to join their esteemed team at the South East Melbourne site.

The WHSEQ function holds a pivotal role within their business, serving as a crucial component integral to their overall operations.

About the role

Based in Dandenong, VIC the core responsibility of this role is to maintain compliance through the compliance data base, complete internal audits, and provide general site support such as inspections and observations. Although the role is based in Dandenong VIC, you will be responsible for approx. 27 sites across VIC, NSW and QLD.

About you

  • Minimum 2 -5 years' experience in implementing Work, Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems (preferably in the construction or mining environments)
  • Certification IV in Work Health and Safety or higher tertiary qualification in health & safety
  • Previous internal auditing & quality assurance experience
  • Certificate of Competency in Incident Investigation (e.g., ICAM, Taproot, etc.)
  • Heavy machinery equipment industry experience is advantageous
  • Previous site base WHSEQ experience
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Key responsibilities & accountabilities:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards
  • Conduct risk assessments for workplace activities and equipment to identify potential hazards
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, or near misses and provide recommendations for preventing recurrence
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives
  • Conduct quality audits and inspections to ensure product and service quality
  • Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency procedures
  • Implement and track key performance indicators to measure safety and environmental performance
  • Maintain accurate records related to WHSEQ activities
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure WHSEQ considerations are integrated into daily operations
  • Evaluate the WHSEQ performance of suppliers and contractors
  • Assess and ensure the safety of construction equipment
