Karora Resources is a gold and nickel producer in WA. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, we currently operate the Beta Hunt underground mine in Kambalda and the Higginsville Gold Operations, which includes a 1.6 Mtpa processing plant near Norseman in the Goldfields region of Western Australia and the 1.0Mtpa Lakewood Mill in Kalgoorlie.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with providing leadership and coaching to ensure that all employees and contractors adhere to requirements in the Safety Management System
- Maintain accurate records and ensure the integrity of department information, conducting regular reviews to ensure validity our INX database – InTuition and InControl
- Draft, review and maintain all site based WHS documentation in accordance with the company’s document preparation and control standards to ensure adequacy and compliance
- Conduct and review site risk assessments and support the development of the business risk profile
- Assist and facilitate incident investigation, liaising with relevant departments and producing detailed reports to management
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and emergency response processes
- Positively influence, and advise Leaders and workforce on Health and Safety requirements under Workplace Health & Safety Legislation
- Conduct scheduled site inspections and ensure identified hazards are closed out in a timely manner
- Assist with providing field interaction and leadership ensuring employees and contractors adhere to WHS requirements
- Actively promote a high level of safety awareness, lead from the front and by example
- Oversee and facilitate incident investigations, ensuring efficacy and integrity of the process
- Produce monthly WHS reports for Site Management as required
- Act as the Alternate Site Senior Executive as required
ABOUT YOU
- Current “C” Class Western Australian driver’s licence
- Minimum 10 years experience in a similar role within the resource sector
- Underground Mining experience (desirable)
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health, Health, Safety, Hygiene, or equivalent post graduate qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of WHS legislation and regulations
- Experienced in conducting investigations with ICAM and Root Cause Analysis competencies
- Experience in maintaining health and safety components through INX
- Strong computer skills & literacy, particularly across the MS Office suite
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (highly desirable)
- Qualifications in Air Quality and Noise Officer appointments (highly desirable)
- Proven leadership skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
- Solid communication skills, with the ability to build strong, collaborative, and successful working relationships with your team
- A can-do, team-oriented attitude
- Desire to maintain a proactive safe working environment
