Job description

  • $54,120.06 to $66,943.54 per annum plus 11% superannuation plus $954.22 allowance 
  • 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday plus a fortnightly rostered day off
  • Paddington 

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Horticultural Labourer to join our Open Space & Trees team on a permanent full time basis.

As a Horticultural Labourer, you will join close-knit team and work collaboratively to maintain our high profile parks and open spaces throughout the Woollahra Local Government area.

Under the guidance of our highly skilled Horticulturists, your duties will range from from grass cutting, garden maintenance, tree planting,  rubbish removal and general labouring works in parks, reserves and the streetscape.

About you

You will have a genuine passion for garden maintenance with relevant labouring experience and practical knowledge in the safe operation of small plant equipment. You will enjoy getting your hands dirty and thrive in a team environment. You will be a high a achiever with:

  • Demonstrated relevant general labouring experience including grass cutting, weed control and open space cleaning.
  • Experience in the use and maintenance of small plant equipment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Work Health and Safety in the workplace and the practical application of safe working procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute and work as part of a team.
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to liaise with members of the public in high profile areas.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proven problem solving skills and a willingness to follow issues through to completion.
  • Willingness and experience participating in a culture striving for continuous improvement.
  • Computer literate.
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence.

Desirable Criteria

  • Traffic Control Qualifications – Blue and Yellow Card.
  • Construction Induction Card.
  • Chemical Application (Level 3) qualifications.
  • Willingness to study Certificate in Local Government and/or Horticulture.
