Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing Electrical Engineering activities for the project.Acting as the main contact between various stakeholders, ensuring designs meet high standards and regulations, managing consultants and contractors, leading safety in design, and reviewing technical specifications and documentation. The position also involves assisting with fault finding, ensuring compliance with standards, providing accurate information to stakeholders, and supporting the Project Engineering Manager.Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main contact between projects, operations, stakeholders, and service providers for Electrical Engineering activities.
- Collaborate with operations, engineers, and consultants to ensure designs meet high standards and comply with all regulatory requirements.
- Manage consultants and contractors to complete work safely, on time, and within budget.
- Provide expert design and technical reviews, acting as the Subject Matter Expert in Electrical Engineering.
- Lead Safety in Design efforts for the project.
- Work with contractors to develop technical specifications and scopes of work for all electrical projects.
- Review all Electrical Engineering drawings and documents to ensure they meet design and regulatory standards.
- Assist in electrical fault finding and root cause analysis investigations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to oversee design improvements and ensure equipment reliability.
- Ensure all design changes and modifications comply with company, state, and national standards, and regulatory authorities.
- Provide accurate and timely information and documentation to project stakeholders to minimize delays and offer cost-effective solutions.
- Contribute to the allocation of design and support resources to meet project needs.
- Proven experience in a lead level Electrical Engineering position, managing engineering and trade contractors within an owner's team.
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering; Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is a plus.
- Previous experience in project management or supervisory roles in mining, resources, energy, or large industrial projects.
- Experience in a design engineering environment.
- Familiarity with process instrumentation and both low and high voltage systems. Knowledge of PLC hardware and the Rockwell suite of products is advantageous.
- Understanding of Type B gas appliances and equipment.
- Experience with failure investigations and root cause analysis.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey knowledge clearly and concisely.
- Experience with Western Australian and Australian Standards and relevant regulatory authorities.
