To support our rollout of Smart Meters in North Queensland, Yurika, a leading organisation, has two permanent opportunities for Work Group Officers to join our Metering teams located in Townsville and are inviting applications from skilled electrical tradespersons to take on this new challenge.

The role:

As a Work Group Officer, you are a skilled and competent tradesperson who utilises and blends both trade-based skills and supervisory skills to assist with leading field staff. You’ll perform a pivotal role in supporting the Work Group from a technical and work planning perspective by planning and organising work and providing in-field support to ensure work is undertaken in an effective and efficient way. 

Your essential duties include providing technical advice, coaching, and mentoring, promoting safety, engaging with customers and stakeholders, managing change, overseeing site management, and coordinating works.

Remuneration:

You'll have the option of working either a 9 or 10-day fortnightly roster and will be remunerated accordingly -

  • 9-day fortnight - from $116,202 per annum plus 12.75% superannuation.
  • 10-day fortnight - from $134,213 per annum plus 12.75% superannuation.

The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in the position.

About you:  

Critical to your success in the role is your: 

  • Queensland Electrical Licensing Board Certificate of Competency as an Electrical Fitter Mechanic or the ability to convert an existing electrical licence from any Australian State or Territory.
  • Knowledge of Electricity Act and Regulations, Workplace Health and Safety Act, Environmental Act and other relevant legislation, including the Electricity Act 2002 Code of Practice for Working Near Exposed Parts and its practical application to the Energex and Ergon network.
  • An understanding of electricity distribution and/or transmission, including metering installation, maintenance and testing. Knowledge of underground and overhead mains and substation equipment.
  • Well-developed people management and leadership skills including mentoring and coaching skills and the ability to successfully manage all aspects of employee performance.
  • Demonstrated ability in written and verbal communication skills, establishing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, working in a team, by working collaboratively across a diverse stakeholder network, negotiating and influencing others to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.

You’ll be required to complete a pre-employment medical as part of the selection process.
