Eligibility: Open to EveryoneThe Rangelands Goat Management Coordinator is responsible for leading strategic planning and delivery of projects aimed at reducing the significant threats posed by unmanaged rangeland goats to build the resilience of ecosystems across regional South Australia. This role develops, implements and leads cross-regional collaboration and coordination of rangeland Goat Management including developing and maintaining positive partnerships and relationships with and between Landscape Boards, industry and other Sectors, as well as State and Commonwealth government agencies. The Rangelands Goat Management Coordinator is responsible for exploring alternative interventions and control methodologies to support landholders in achieving sustainable and cost-effective Goat Management practices, and will also identify and develop funding proposals and implement effective communication strategies and plans working alongside the Rangelands Goat Management Steering Committee and project partners.Key Outcomes
- Lead the co-ordination and development of networks and partnerships, to ensure information sharing between multiple sectors and disciplines in the management of goats in the partnering regions.
- Manage and deliver an externally funded Landscape Priorities Fund project to reduce the significant threats posed by unmanaged rangeland goats to build the resilience of ecosystems across regional South Australia.
- Facilitate and support the delivery of innovative on-ground trials and control methodologies to support landholders in the management of unmanaged Rangelands Goats for multiple outcomes e.g. circular economies where goat meat is valued as a protein rather than a wastage.
- Contribute to the review and strengthening of legislative frameworks, related policies and pathways to encourage increased uptake by landholders to improve voluntary compliance and where appropriate, enforcement.
- Collaborate with industry to explore complementary activities in the removal alongside potential commercialization of unmanaged goats or where domesticated goat enterprises may be considered where legislation permits.
- Actively explore supplementary, alternative and extended funding sources for continued support of the program into the future.
- Develop effective communication strategies and plans, facilitate negotiation and issues, and ensure stakeholders and partners are engaged, coordinated and connected in their management efforts.
