About the Role

In this role, you will lead a team of road workers in tasks such as bituminous spray sealing, line marking, and road maintenance, ensuring the use of various equipment adheres to safety, environmental, and quality procedures. Collaborating with the Team Leader in Dandenong, you'll help develop delivery strategies, manage contracts, and oversee financial and business processes. The position requires after-hours emergency response, potential overtime, and possible travel within the state for broader emergency support. While primarily based in Dandenong, work at other locations across Victoria may be needed. Standard hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but shifts can include weekends, public holidays, and nights, with occasional overnight travel.

Job Description
Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
As a key team member of the SRS Maintenance Delivery team, you will promote a safety culture, support inclusive and flexible operations, and ensure cost-effective, timely, and quality delivery of services. You will exercise professional judgment, use negotiation skills, strive for continuous improvement, adhere to the VPS code of conduct, and apply leadership skills to manage and motivate field personnel while assisting broader SRS teams across Victoria.
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in the role, the ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge and skills in project delivery, including executing tasks safely and maintaining accurate records. They will demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities by seeking resolutions through policy guidelines and supervisor guidance. The candidate will contribute to innovation and continuous improvement, uphold quality standards under time pressure, understand and apply relevant policies and guidelines, and support team capability development by sharing knowledge and providing constructive feedback.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
• Current licences and tickets in plant operation; traffic management, chainsaw and first aid, construction induction card.
• At least five years’ experience working in a road maintenance, construction, or work crew supervisory role.
• Construction Induction White Card
• Working knowledge of computer tablets / mobile devices.
• Solid administrative and computer skills.
Desirable
• Certificate III in Civil Construction
• Understanding of Asset Maintenance Management Systems
• Strong knowledge of the Road Management Plan
• Strong understanding of Maintenance Specification Section 750
