ABOUT THE ROLE
The primary purpose of the Workshop Heading Hand is to to co-ordinate the day to day activities of the workshop in consultation with the Workshop Manager.
Specific Responsibilities
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repair activities for all Qube trucks, trailers, light vehicles and other plant and equipment
- Work closely with Fleet Control to ensure availability and timely repair of heavy vehicle fleet
- Participate in after hours on call breakdown roster
- Assist to determine the defect priority for repairs and work requests
- Keep the Workshop Manager informed of any issues preventing Scheduled Maintenance from being carried out
- Work closely with the Maintenance planner to ensure all backlog work is completed and faults and repairs are recorded correctly
- Ensure that safety hazards and risks relating to workshop personnel are identified and controlled
- Ensure required parts are available for the scheduled repairs/maintenance
- Assist coordinate, service, inspect and repair earthmoving plant
- Assist mine sites with repairs and part supply as required
- Address any day to day issues that arise in the workshop, or refer them to the Workshop Manager if unable to resolve
- Assist Workshop Manager in his role with other duties as required
- Take reasonable care for your own safety and health and the safety of others
- Follow all safety and health instructions as specified during induction
- Use personal protective clothing or equipment provided by the company when applicable
- Take good care and maintenance of company and client equipment
- Report any situation at the workplace that you believe could constitute a hazard to any person and that you can't correct yourself
- Report any injury or harm to health of which you are aware of that arises in the course of, or in connection with your work, however minor
- Co-operate as necessary so that the company is able to carry out its HSE obligations
- Co-operate with the rehabilitation program where required

- Identify, assess and report all known and newly identified hazards and incidents in the workplace
- Implement effective risk controls
- Participate in the monitoring, review and evaluation of implemented risk controls
- Stop work where there is an imminent danger and escalate to the appropriate supervisor/manager

- Treat fellow employees, contractors, clients and the public with respect
- Do not cause pollution or harm to the environment
- Follow the requirements of the SHEMS documentation including Rules, Procedures and Instructions
- Identify system shortcomings and opportunities for improvement
- Report to duty in a fit state, free from fatigue the influence of alcohol or other drugs
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment and operate plant equipment safely
- Participate in consultation activities regarding matters affecting your health, safety and welfare
- Participate in relevant HSE training and maintaining your HSE related competencies
- Engage in Work only when in possession of required and current Certificates of Competence
- Minimum 3 years in similar role
- Trade qualification as heavy truck mechanic / diesel fitter
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people and cultures
- Basic keyboard and computer experience using Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
- HR (minimum) or MC license to test drive and diagnose truck
- Experience in diagnosis, service and mechanical and electrical repairs of heavy on highway trucks and trailing equipment (end tippers, side tippers and bulk fuel tankers) and loaders
- Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised and in a team environment
