Our client is a local manufacturer with a strong reputation for design and manufacturing products for the mining, logistics, infrastructure and agriculture sectors, utilise leading edge systems and technology. Due to internal movement and growth, we’re seeking a Workshop Operations & Purchasing Support person to join their team.
The role is to work closely with the Operations Manager as part of the Workshop leadership team. The ideal candidate will have either a mechanical or technical background or has worked in a similar environment with the ability to quickly learn.
The role:
- To participate in quoting process - specifically to input workshop requirements into jobs, obtain pricing & delivery times and develop quotes to draft status.
- To monitor and chase up purchases to ensure job deliveries are met.
- To work with suppliers to develop kits for repeat jobs, where cost savings and efficiency gains can be made.
- To explore alternate suppliers, where cost savings and/or delivery improvements can be achieved and establish relationships.
- To maintain inventory pricing in internal system.
- To stand in for the Purchasing Manager in their absence.
- To coordinate return of completed jobs.
- To review completed job packages prior to invoicing and highlight inconsistencies to Operation Manager.
- Min 5 years experience in a similar role within a engineering, industrial or workshop environment
- High level planning, time management and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail.
- High level customer service and communication skills.
- High level administrative skills with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- High level computer skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and following through on tasks from inception to completion.
- Ability to follow up on outstanding matters promptly.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with other internal staff, customers and suppliers.
- Ability to be ethical in decision making.
