Based in Bayswater, WA the role of Drill Build Technician is hands-on, installing, commissioning and maintaining FLANDERS autonomous drill control system components, instrumentation and electrical systems for drill and blast drill rigs used in open-cut mining. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical skills and have prior experience in performing electrical and mechanical repairs on control systems and drills.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIAThe essentials
- A relevant Australian-recognised trade certificate - Cert III or above.
- Previous experience as an electrician or Auto Electrician or relevant industry experience.
- Some or all of the following licenses: Forklift license, Drivers license, High-Risk Work License and/or White Card
- Experience in rigging within a similar industry.
- Demonstrated experience in control system installations and commissioning.
- Well-developed relatable technical skills, with a demonstrated ability to read schematics and electrical drawings.
- Great communication skills and a strong work ethic.
- Excellent technical report writing skills.
- Must be flexible, self-motivated, and have excellent customer relationship skills.

- Experienced in managing a working away-from-home arrangement.
Key Deliverables
- Perform general repairs on customer systems and repairs and assist the team with automated drill system conversions.
- Liaise with the client and develop a good professional relationship while on site.
- Ensure that all client protocols and safety standards are met both within the workshop and when out on site.
- Perform general electro-mechanical repairs on FLANDERS customer systems and equipment, ensuring adherence to code requirements.
- Ensure all site documentation is up to date and signed onto.
- Ensure drill builds are completed within the time frame allowed. Document any variations and bring them to your supervisors’ attention.
- Give feedback to the Operations Manager/Workshop Manager regarding process improvements.
