Bis are now currently accepting applications from suitably skilled Trades Assistants. These roles are based at our Tomago Workshop in NSW. The successful candidates will be assisting our Mechanical Tradesperson's onsite whilst they perform mechanical repairs and maintenance across a variety of underground mobile plant.These are excellent opportunities for skilled Mechanical Trades Assistants to get large scale workshop exposure, along with gaining experience and skills working on underground machinery!
We are currently looking for people that possess the same drive, enthusiasm and pride in their work as we do. You will learn from the best in the field, you will be working with a stable team that values hard work but enjoys their time together as well.
Requirements of the Role:
- Previous work history as a Trades Assistant (experience with underground machinery and diesel engines will be highly regarded)
- High Risk Work Licence - LF and DG (Forklift and Dogman) Preferred
- Ability to follow the directions of senior tradespersons
- Positive, proactive approach to safety;
- Commitment to working as part of a team;
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to customer service;
- Assisting our Mechanical Tradespersons to perform mechanical repairs and maintenance to a variety of underground mobile plant including loaders, and underground haulage equipment.
- Forklift operational experience.
- Roster: Have a 4 day weekend every fortnight!
Week 1 - Monday - Thursday (Friday - Monday rostered off)
Week 2 - Tuesday - Friday (Saturday - Sunday rostered off)

Bis own the largest fleet of Underground Hire Equipment in the Coal Mining Industry. We provide casual and long-term hire of run of mine equipment including Load Haul Dump (LHD) Machines, Graders and Personnel Transporters. Bis also provide casual and long-term hire of Longwall Move Equipment including Mules, Heavy Lift Load Haul Dump Machines, Pan Pickers and Dozers, ensuring greater security and flexibility while preserving valuable capital for our clients.
Our Diesel and Electrical Services Division offer complete equipment overhauls, scheduled servicing and machine repairs using the workshop base, and field service crews equipped to operate autonomously at the site of the customer.
